Jeg heter Anita og er matmor i en familie på 4 tobeinte og flere firbeinte som normalt bor på Sandnes i Rogaland. Men nå for en 4 årsperiode (2007 til 2011) har vi flyttet til Waterloo i Belgia.

Jeg vokste opp i en familie som alltid hadde katter, og det var derfor naturlig å skaffe en katt så snart vi som familie fikk vårt eget hus. Valget falt på en Bengal. Det er en ekstremt aktiv og rampete rase, og selv om vi er fryktelig glad i Sirius, kunne vi ikke tenke oss flere bengaler. 

Når vi lette rundt på diverse nettsider og dro på katteutstillinger var det en rase som utmerket seg for oss. En stor og vakker katterase med et hærlig temperament: Maine Coon! 

Vår første Maine Coon kom til oss sommeren 2004. Hun het (N)Bargello Frøya fra Nina Vinjes oppdrett (N)Bargello. 

Siden den gang er Nina blitt både en mentor og en god venn. Og min mann Tor Are og jeg har startet Maine Coon oppdrettet (N)Kattelatte. 

Vi har fokus på friske og aktive katter og normalt går kattene fritt i huset sammen med oss . På grunn av bosituasjonen vår her i Belgia kan ikke kattene være fritt rundt i huset til en hver tid, de har derfor sitt eget basisrom med alt en katt trenger for å trives. De har også en utegård med masse aktivitetsmuligheter. Om natten er kattene på basisrommet sitt og når vi ikke er hjemme er de enten der eller i utegården. Ellers får de være sammen med oss eller vi er inne hos dem.

My name is Anita and I am the mother of a family of 4 humans and several cats. Normally we live in Sandnes in Southwestern Norway, but now for a four year period (2007 to 2011) we have moved to Waterloo, Belgium.

 I grew up in a family who always had cats, so to me it was naturally to get a cat once we got our own house. The choice fell on a Bengal. It is an extremely active and rowdy breed and even if we love Sirius, we did not want another Bengal. WE searched around on websites and looked at cat shows. One breed of cars really made an impression on us with its large beautiful looks, large size and lovely temper. The Maine Coons!

Our first Maine coon came to us the summer of 2004. Her name was (N)Bargello Frøya from the breeder Nina Vinje. 

Since then Nina has become both a mentor and a friend. And my husband, Tor Are, and myself have started the Maine Coon cattery (N)Kattelatte

To us it is important that the cats are healthy and active. Normally they would be together with us in the house at all times. But because of our housing situation here in Belgium the cats can not walk freely around the house at all times. They have their base room complete with everything a cat needs to be happy. They also have an enclosed catyard outside with lots of opportunities for activity. At night the cats are always at the base room, and when we are away from home they are in the base room or in the catyard. The rest of the time we spend a lot of time with them both in the hose and outside in the caryard.
